This design is actually a combination of a dome and a teepee. Since it is a cone-shaped tent, rain and snow will just drip down to the ground. But for it to be truly weatherproof especially from wind, you must install the guy cables properly.
Airflow is also great because of the big mesh door, ground vents, and vented roof. This works best during summer. And when the weather turns chilly, simply zip them back up!
It looks different, yes, but it’s as good as any camping tent. In fact, it’s great!

Different Types of Tents
Choosing a tent is like choosing a house design. There are so many things to consider: size, design, structure, floor area, materials, etc. Here we narrowed it down for you so it becomes a little less confusing.
Dome
This is probably the most common camping tents because of their minimalistic and simple structure. It is referred to as the standard shape in tents. But dome tents today can have extensions on different sides.
Tunnel
Tunnel tents are long tents that basically look like a tunnel inside. Poles help it look like so. Tunnel tents have a spacious headspace.
These tents are what families and bigger groups go for because it is larger in size and space compared to others.
Cabin
A cabin tent, as the name suggests, looks like a cabin or a room. They look like boxes and they have a generous headspace more than tunnel tents. They have several windows and can even have 2 or more rooms.
They work best during summer because of the hot weather and these tents have the windows and tall door space for it.
Bell
Bell tents have a pole in the center which makes the top pointed. The floor space is somehow circular and the door is shaped like a letter A.
Teepee
These tents are like bell tents in a way they look like pyramids. They also have a central pole. The only difference is that they don’t have any vertical poles around the walls.
Each section has no wall section. So the fabric sort of like drapes from the top all the way to the bottom without any shape. But they can be roomy depending on the size.
The tent that works for some may not work for you. It’s important to consider durability, material, size, and construction. But it’s equally important to know what you’ll need the tent for and how many will occupy one tent.
But that doesn’t mean you’ll have to sacrifice style. A lot of tents have all of the above including style.
